NFL 2003 RECAP:
Ranks fifth on the team with 20 tackles on special teams. Played on both defense and special teams versus New England (9/7), tallying one solo tackle for the defense and two solo tackles for the special teams unit. Recorded one tackle on defense and one tackle on special teams at Jacksonville (9/14). Played on defense and special teams at Miami (9/21) and registered one tackle and one big block on special teams. Versus Philadelphia (9/28), played on special teams and posted one tackle for the unit. Saw action on special teams vs. Cincinnati (10/5) and tallied two tackles for the unit. Made one special teams tackle at New York Jets (10/12). Led the Bills with four tackles on special teams and spelled Lawyer Milloy at strong safety against Washington (10/19). Made one tackle on special teams at Kansas City (10/26). Registered two special teams tackles at Dallas (11/9). Saw time at strong safety and made three tackles on special teams against Houston (11/16). Played on defense and special teams vs. Indianapolis (11/23), but did not record a tackle. Made two special teams tackles at NYG (11/30). Posted three special teams' tackles vs. NYJ (12/7). Played at safety and on special teams coverage at Tennessee (12/14) and recorded his first sack of the season in the fourth quarter for a loss of 10 yards. Finished the game with four tackles at safety and six tackles on special teams. Broke one pass and made two tackles at safety and had three special teams tackles against Miami (12/21). Started for the first time this season at free safety and posted seven tackles and a pass defensed at New England (12/27).

NFL 2002 RECAP:
Selected by the Bills in the third round of the 2002 Draft…versatile player who played multiple positions in college (running back and linebacker) then switched to strong safety after being Drafted by the Bills…debuted as a Bill starting at strong safety (first rookie to start on defense on opening day since Nate Odomes and Shane Conlan 1987)…recorded four tackles (three unassisted) vs. the NYJ (9/8)…finished the game with four tackles (three solo) and one big block on special teams in overtime win at Min.(9/15)….recorded his first NFL sack when be brought Brian Greise down for an eight-yards loss on the first play of the final drive of the second quarter…finished third on the team with eight tackles (seven solo) at Den. (9/22)…finished the game with six tackles (three solo) and two special teams assisted tackles in the overtime win vs. Chi. (9/29)…recorded four tackles, three of which where solo and one special teams tackle (inside twenty) vs. Oak. (10/6)…finished the game with six solo tackles at Hou. (10/13)…recorded three tackles 9two solo) and one pass break up in win over the Dolphins at Mia. (10/20)…pressured rookie quarterback Joey Harrington and recorded eight tackles (five solo) in win vs. Det. (10/27)…was second on the team with 12-tackles (eight solo) in loss vs. NE (11/3).

COLLEGE RECAP:
Anticipates and accelerates to the ball instantly…Keeps close contact with the tight ends in man coverage and has been used as an inside linebacker in the nickel package…Shows quickness and crispness in his backpedal, using his change of direction agility to mirror the receiver’s moves in the deep area…Has the burst needed to quickly close on the ball… Always looks for receivers coming into his area…Shows courage and power, staying low to secure, wrap and bring down ball carriers near the line…Quickly gains leverage when combating in traffic…Will hit with power and chase down plays at the opposite end of the field…Diverse character who owns a brown belt in karate and has been involved in modeling and acting…Perhaps no player in the history of Stanford football can make the claim Coy Wire can: team leader in both rushing and tackles…While records do not verify this fact, certainly in modern times Stanford has not had a player who led the team in rushing and then, two years later, led the team in tackles, but Coy has done just that…He led the team in rushing in 1998 and tackles in 2000 and ’01 after being moved from running back to safety to inside linebacker…Coy had started seven games at running back from 1998-99, but was moved to safety in the spring of 2000 and then to ILB in the fall of 2000…He was the team's starter at running back as a redshirt freshman in 1998 before a hand injury forced him to miss the final six games of the year…He still finished the year as the team's leading rusher and then started the first two games of the '99 season…Has rushed for 615 yards and scored six touchdowns in his Stanford career…Coy brings with him spirit and enthusiasm for the game that is matched by few on the team…One of the team leaders in 2001 and key weapon on the Cardinal defense, he finished his career with 177 tackles (111 solos), 11 sacks for minus 70 yards and 26 stops for losses of 108 yards.

COLLEGE 2001 SEASON
All-American second-team selection by The NFL Draft Report…All-Pac 10 Conference first-team choice…Started every game at inside linebacker, leading the team for the second-straight year with a career-high 92 tackles (52 solos)…Had three sacks for minus 24 yards and 12 stops for losses of 49 yards…Recovered a fumble and blocked a kick…Had a pair of pass deflections and two quarterback pressures. Boston College…Opened the season with a 7-tackle (6 solos) performance. Arizona State…Followed with a 12-tackle (8 solos) effort. Washington State…Posted 11 tackles (6 solos) as he sacked QB Jason Gesser for a 10-yard loss and made 4 stops for losses of 24 yards. Oregon…Totaled 7 tackles. UCLA…Assisted on a 3-yard sack and came up with 9 tackles (5 solos). Arizona…Returned a fumble recovery 89 yards for a touchdown. California…Posted 11 tackles (6 solos) with 3 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Notre Dame…Registered a career-high 15 tackles (10 solos) as he stopped tailback Tony Fisher twice for losses of 8 yards. San Jose State…Collected 6 tackles (4 solos) and 1.5 sacks for minus 11 yards. Georgia Tech (Seattle Bowl)…Had a team-high 11 tackles (5 solos), including one that stopped tailback Joe Burns behind the line of scrimmage.

COLLEGE 2000 SEASON
Started 10 games at inside linebacker and was named All-Pac 10 Conference honorable mention…He was among the league's top 10 in tackles (81 total, 7.4 tpg), sacks (tied for sixth with eight) and tackles for loss (tied for 10th with 14)…Led the team with 81 tackles (57 solos) as he totaled 46 yards on eight sacks and 59 yards in losses on 14 stops…Had an 11-yard interception return, four pass deflections and a fumble recovery…Winner of two team awards: the Gundelach Award as the team's top junior, and the Russell-Huston Award as the player exemplifying the highest standard of leadership, aggressiveness and competitive attitude. Washington State…Made an immediate impact on the Cardinal defense…In his first start, he had 6 tackles, two for loss and a sack. Arizona State…Named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week after posting 10 tackles (7 solos) with 3 sacks and 4 stops behind the line of scrimmage. Texas…Credited with a pair of sacks and 7 tackles (6 solos). Arizona…Posted 8 tackles (5 solos) with a stop behind the line of scrimmage and a pass deflection. COLLEGE 1999 SEASON
Began the season as Stanford's starting running back…Started the first two games of the year and played every contest…Third on the team with 317 yards on 88 carries (3.6 avg) with four touchdowns to go along with four receptions for 32 yards (8.0 avg). Washington…Had a season-high 72 yards on nine carries and a 5-yard score. Arizona…Had 54 yards on 5 rushes, including a 44-yard touchdown. Southern California and San Jose State…Scored on 2-yard runs in both games.

COLLEGE 1998 SEASON
Started five games and played in six…Finished the season as the team's leading rusher…Gained 298 yards with a pair of touchdowns on 85 carries (3.5 avg)…Caught 15 passes for 83 yards (5.5 avg). North Carolina…Rushed 24 times for 77 yards and a 1-yard score, adding 5 receptions for 39 yards. Notre Dame…Carried 19 times for 76 yards and made 7 catches for 29 yards. Oregon…Added 58 yards and a touchdown on 15 tries. Oregon State…Totaled 60 yards on 13 attempts.

COLLEGE 1997 SEASON
Redshirted as a freshman.
